Her friend (and rival) the irritatingly charming and handsome, Wendell Bambleby, arrives without notice, with students and an offer to help. Wendell and Emily enter into an arrangement of sorts by which both hope to gain a new kind of success.
As their time in Hrafnsvik progresses, Emily (with some help from Wendell) uncovers secrets, witnesses dark (and frightening) fae magic, builds friendships, and survives danger and political machinations.
Plus Emily has a very cool dog.
There is even the beginnings of what I anticipate will be an excellent love story. If you're a romance fan you'll love the grumpy/sunshine, long time pining, and realizations.
I love a fantasy set in the real word. Humans and faeries mingling and learning from each other all while living their lives and dealing with hierarchies, work, families, and love.
If you like Veronica Speedwell and The Last Binding Trilogy, you should give this a try. I read via audio and highly recommend.
