Am I too stupid to get it, or is it unnecessarily convoluted?

Liked many parts of the book, but I felt as lost as those who walk the mirrored path at times.

No genuine payoff. Ambiguity reigns.

A delightful decent into an unreliable narrator in an unreliable world, with a great explanation of the creeping darkness of the forces of chaos. Cosmic Horror and Irony mixed equally make this one of the highlights of the Dark Coil.

Bit of a mixed bag for me, this one. I can see and respect what the author is going for. A Southern Reach Trilogy vibe in the 40k universe is a great elevator pitch. But for this reader, the experience was either sporadically entertaining or seemingly gleefully opaque to the point where I wasn't so much intrigued as to what was going on as a bit impatient for the yarn to end.

It had its moments, no question, but this was a "Warhammer Horror" with minimal Warhammer and precious little horror. Didn't quite hit the mark for me, although I'm intrigued by the author's other work.
