This ended up being much more serious than my initial expectation of a YA romance. Appreciated the discussion of overcoming mental health stigmas. Also another testament of the importance of just honest communication.

A sweet, diverse, romance to read on Valentine's day. There is humor to the book, but there is so much more than just romance. Jocelyn is a first-generation Chinese American who struggles with depression and is tied to her family's Chinese restaurant for the summer. Will is Nigerian-American who deals with debilitating anxiety. He gets a job for the summer at the restaurant. As the two become more than just friends, their "post-truth" thoughts try to derail them. Both must come to grips with their mental health issues if they are going to make it as a couple and help save the struggling restaurant.

this book <3333

it literally encompasses so much of my life and what i’ve been through that i adore it on an incredibly personal level. the romance is adorable, but i love how the book focuses on issues such as cultural differences, racism, and mental health as well!!! it’s a beautiful book and one that i’m so happy to have read :)

Great destigmatizing of mental illness within communities of color and first generation immigrant teens.
