Just not good in any way shape or form. I don’t get why these books are popular in the least.

The new Netflix adaptation made me crave these. I can't believe I never finished this series when they were coming out; I think I was just slightly too old for them at the time, but now I am truly appreciating how clever they are.

Well, it's hard to review these as a collective when this is actually three books. Yes, they are slightly ridiculous. The Austere Academy and The Ersatz Elevator are definitely some of the weaker links in the series, but this is all about building the mystery.

I've quite enjoyed this series so far and that's why I put 3 stars altogether, but I have to say that the same scheme repeated over and over again is starting to test my nerves.

this is my favourite asoue book, mostly because it has all of my favourite things: boarding school settings, the quagmires, absolutely ludicrous details like the crabs and nero and making sunny work as a secretary. also BOARDING SCHOOLS.
