This was a super cute YA gay romcom that at times reminded me of when I was first discovering my sexuality with other girls.
There were definitely points that it felt like the authors were trying to tick as much off of a gen-z checklist and going almost too far to make sure that the book was as PC as possible. The amount of constant clarifying any time anyone said something that could maybe be taken the wrong way got obnoxious at times.
The book definitely has its place though, and some teenagers are gonna really enjoy it.

This was a sweet story. Definitely upper YA. The characters are really cute, and relatable. The story moves along well. I liked the writing style. It kept me hooked the whole way through.

Initially found this book quite boring, but a little ways in it picked up. I like the dynamic between the two main characters. I thought it was quite cute that the whole book is essentially based around Margo’s autism and her struggling to understand a world she’s getting into to. I think this was portrayed well, especially when Abbie realised she needed to stop assuming there was a bit of knowledge and start from nothing instead. Another of the ongoing theme of autism paired with adhd, though Abbie’s ADHD felt like it came out of nowhere.
‘The thing is I know now. The thing is that I can’t go back. The thing is: I never ever want to.’
‘She leaves and I just stand at the door for a minute, wishing that she hadn’t.’
‘The thing is, Abbie, that I don’t know when I knew. I know when I acknowledged it. I think I know when I should have known—and that is always.’
‘There’s a lot of things you said that can be filed under “asshole” but only one that needs to be filed under “bad fucking person” and I think you know exactly what it is.’
‘You don’t need someone else to tell you who you are. You just need to trust yourself. I trust you.”’

I wasn't quite sure about this book starting out. The writing seemed a little awkward and cheesy. But it grew on me quickly and I soon had trouble putting it down.
