I think this was my favorite book in the Wayfarers series. I loved the characters and their interactions felt authentic. The way the characters learned about one another and unpacked their xenophobia felt genuine and not forced. Such a feel good book.

This book is a respite from life, a breathing space to remind us of where the ground is in a world where it is hard to find sometimes. I don't really know how to explain it. It just, felt like a fresh breath of air, in a way. And at the same time it tackles big questions and thoughts and culture clashes and so on, with different sides, with strong characters. I can't really explain it.

But I can say that I'm sad this was the last book in the wayfarers series because I've loved all of the books, but I know I'll reread them at some point and maybe it won't be like reading them for the first time, but I imagine it might feel like a break after being away from home and I'm absoluelty looking forward to that.

Liked a lot, and the characterization of an adolescent was outstanding

I think this might have been my favourite of the series, which is weird cause it has a lot of the things I disliked about the other books but for some reason this worked so much better for me?

I think the closed setting helped to make me care less about the lack of plot (since they can't really do anything anyway) and I have always found Chambers' exploration of alien cultures and how they interact with each other really interesting and this was giving me a lot of that!

Some of the banter is still a bit too cheesy, and there were times each character was just reflecting on their situation without much else happening, but I had a fun time!

This was also lovely, soft, comfortable, while also political. I liked it a lot. But I think it might be my least favourite of the series? Or maybe I'm just a bit checked out mentally. When I consider individual pieces I'm like "yes!!!" but it doesn't rise to the intense experience of the other three. I think there wasn't as much of a reminder of the stakes, so less tension, than in the others; there were mentions, sure, but it felt more cosy than "eek, how is this going to go?" It really made me want to go back to the start though!
