London Blitz. Separated sisters. Duel timeline. These three components weave comfortably in this story. I was fully invested, hoping for the sisters to be reunited. Why not a 5? I didn’t really enjoy the journals as the last section . I needed more of a realistic explanation and connection. But historical information was well done.

As much as I like to read about Holocaust Lit, it's refreshing to read historical novels that are based around the same time period but with a different perspective. Meissner used strong language to convey the details of the bombing and the feelings of the characters. At times, my gut was wrenching. I would recommend this to every historical fiction lover.

Another WW2 book - but this one set in England and developed around the bombing of London. The toll that it took on private citizens, both those who survived and those who lost loved ones, is often overlooked. I liked how Ms Meissner developed the characters. You do have to stretch your mind a little as far as some of the plot development but overall a good read.

Wonderful story, you won't want to put it down and you'll be sad when it's over.
