The eleventh and final collection of the wonderful Calvin and Hobbes comic strip. Full of hilarious, thoughtful, insightful, cynical, non-plussed and surreal moments as Calvin explores the reality of death, life, and the average existence of a 6 year old boy in 1980's America. Reactions can range from laugh-out-loud to subtle nods of agreement at this brilliant reflection of life. Both a time-capsule from that time and still relevant, if you only read one comic strip, read this.

Review Taken from The Pewter Wolf

One boy and his toy tiger trying to make sense of the world around. Make sense with moral and ethical questions about life, growing up, friendship and bigger questions such as avoiding bathtime, eating vegetables and turning any game in Calvinball.

This is a collection of comic strips, which was published in newspapers all over the world (with Sunday's edition being in colour) and I LOVED them. I smiled, snorted, laughed and related to my life most of the situations that featured in the book. I just loved how Bill Watterson made Calvin and Hobbes fun and relatable and yet, at the same time, poking fun at the world around them with humour (both child-like and grown-up).

It was only after my first day of my two day DEVOURING session (and laughing myself stupid - that's right, two days!) that I discovered that this is the LAST collection and it contains the last EVER Calvin and Hobbes strip, which is very bittersweet to most fans and yet, is perfect! I want a print of that on my wall somewhere! That last page was one of my faves within this collection. I just adore it!

I have become a fan of Calvin and Hobbes. So much so, I have ordered another collection to devour (I can't take my time over them. I WON'T! TOO GOOD!): The Essential Calvin And Hobbes. So, yeah, loved it! If you can get your hands on this (or any of the Calvin and Hobbes), do it!

Yet another among the books published by Bill Watterson from the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip that I have enjoyed. This one is from the beginning of the C&H comic strip, and I own a framed print of that first strip. When Calvin tells Hobbes, "It's a magical world...lets go exploring,", it speaks powerfully to me on several levels. That print hangs in my office, and has become a reminder to me of the importance of discovering what I don't yet know, of the need to ask important questions and find their answers.

My children have literally worn out these collections of C&H comics, and with good reason. C&H is a unique blend of homespun philosophy, side-splitting humor, and insight into the human (child and adult) condition. Watterson's insights into, and sly digs at, various social, familial, and other institutions of modern life are masterful.

This was the last C&H book. I laughed and cried my entire way through it — especially the final panel, printed on December 31, 1995.

Il mondo che ha creato Bill Patterson è davvero magico: i suoi personaggi fanno tenerezza, fanno ridere, ma fanno anche tanto riflettere. Una raccolta di strip davvero divertente, degna conclusione di una bellissimo fumetto.

At first a little slow, but quickly recaptures that magic that clearly put this as a transcendental piece of art that represents not just the best of serial comic strips but storytelling and entertainment across any medium as a whole. The last C&H comic always makes me cry.
