I need to do some more thinking on this book. I also am going to continue to seek out alternate viewpoints so I can have a well-rounded understanding of all the arguments. First thoughts: this was a strong call to action from liberal Americans to push for a better solution to the continued tension (extreme understatement) between the Palestinian people and the state of Israel. I appreciated that this book didn't pretend to be anything it wasn't. If you're looking to hear from a pro-Palestine book that covers the history from a pro-Palestine perspective with a slant towards the role of the United States, this is it. I appreciated that the authors were careful to call out the government of Israel, not the Jewish people. They said from the beginning that their arguments were not intended to be anti-Semitic in any way. As a non-Jewish person, I'm not fully prepared to comment on whether they succeeded at that or not. All in all, this was an informative, albeit biased perspective that is driving me to learn more about the role of the United States now and in the past.
