I think this book is crucial reading for anyone interested in why the US continues to be so pro-Israel, especially in light of the current violence in that region. Hill and Plitnick do a great job of breaking down the evolution of the US's approach to the region while also providing important criticisms. I also really appreciated how the authors clearly addressed and denounced Antisemitism and how support for Palestine and the Jewish community go hand in hand.
I do think that this book should be paired with others that focus specifically on the history of the region from a nonWestern lens. This work is most beneficial as a supplement to historical texts and for those looking for insight into why progressive American politicians have repeatedly held pro-Israel stances.
