So much happens that I forgot about! First off, Gale is a BITCH. Now that that's out of the way, what a fantastic ending to a trilogy!
It starts off a little shaky and really drags until the second half. Katniss has been used time and time again by people on both sides of the war. I understand why she's a bit annoying (other than the fact that she's literally 17 and I was also insufferable at that age). She has absolutely no autonomy of her life and is constantly used as a pawn for any and all political agendas. The rebels never ask for her opinion they just make her look pretty and shove a camera in her face. Yet whenever she defies direct orders things always work out well for her. Hmmm... coincidence?
I am so upset by the way they downplayed Finnick's death in this book though. I feel like he played such a major role and then it's completely skipped over until the very ending. Justice for my man Finnick. I am happy that Katniss killed Coin though. What a baller move. In the end you know that there is going to be another war hundreds of years from now and it's an inescapable endless cycle. But for now they can live in peace, even if it's only for a little while.
A+++ for having Katniss and Peeta end up together. One thing I will give Katniss is that she always had her focus in the right places and never stopped to really finagle the idea of love around. Meanwhile, Gale is being annoying as fuck crying about how Katniss doesn't love him while he's literally aiding in the murder of children, like calm down. Peeta had been through so much and he finally got his happy ending. Ugh just all the feels. I can't wait to re-read these again in like 7 years.

There have been many cases in which great trilogies have been ruined by a vague and unsatisfying ending. This definitely isn't one of them. It's a wonderful finale to an amazing journey. Definitely worth your time.
