The humor, fantasy, and connections in this book blew me away!! The introduction was confusing but then the story takes you away and plops you right there with them. I find the dialogue to be realistic for middle schoolers and loved the world building.

Genuinely good. It's not the most lyrical prose I've ever laid my eyes on but I really enjoyed the action and the plot. Should I start reading fantasy??

reread this entire series and yes, it is as magnificent and beautiful as i remember from 9, 12 and then 15 and then 17

give my man a break DAMN

Years ago, when I saw the trailer to the first Harry Potter movie, it intrigued me enough that I read [b:Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone|3|Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)|J.K. Rowling|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1361572757s/3.jpg|4640799], despite the fact it was written for a young adult audience. I learned about this book in the same way, and figured I would give it the same chance, since I loved the Harry Potter books so much. I am glad I did.

There are a lot of obvious parallels between the two novels. Most importantly, like Harry Potter, this novel sets up a new, imaginative setting for an epic fantasy series. I am excited about reading the four remaining Percy Jackson books, and hope the author's writing grows in the same way [a:J.K. Rowling's|1077326|J.K. As an aside, if you are interested in the mythology that is presented in the Percy Jackson books, but would rather read an adult novel, check out [a:Neil Gaiman's|1221698|Neil Gaiman|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/authors/1234150163p2/1221698.jpg] [b:American Gods|4407|American Gods|Neil Gaiman|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1258417001s/4407.jpg|1970226], which I would wager had a significant influence on this book.

I don’t normally rate middle grade books because ya know, as an adult they just don’t hit the same. This tho? Oh it’s good.

Finally got around to listening to the audiobook for this one. It's a little predictable, but predictability can be a comfort sometimes.
