I was gearing up to do a reread of this series, but then I chickened out. What if a reread makes me realize that the writing isn’t as good as I remember or the story isn’t as captivating? I rather listen to the series again so at least I’m rereading it in a different format!

I enjoyed this book way more than I thought I was going to, to be honest. I like Greek mythology and all the various gods that come with it, so the premise of the book was right up my alley. Percy Jackson finds out he's a demigod, fights monsters, and goes on a cross-country quest to save the world. I'm all for it! I think what threw me off was the fact that I had to pick this book up in the children's section of Barnes and Noble. I was under the impression it was considered YA, which I always assumed was in the teen section.
I'm glad I finally picked this book up, though. It was a fun read! It's been awhile since I've read a book that was just, pure fun. The plot had kind of a slow start, but, once it got started, it was unstoppable! I found myself cheering Percy and his friends on and becoming rather invested in the outcome. I will say that it was a bit juvenile. I wasn't expecting it to be overly complex, but I was disappointed at how quickly I figured out the twists and turns. Still, it was fun to watch Percy figure it out. I haven't decided whether I'll be continuing this series, but I do think this was a strong start!
