As far as manga goes, Nausicaä is just masterful. The art and character design is beautiful, and the environmental message is potent. I was completely enthralled by the story and was surprised to see just how different an experience it was from the film. If you enjoyed the film, reading the manga is worthwhile as you get a deeper exploration of the characters and the unique world that they inhabit.

While I love the movie, Nausicaä and the Valley of the Wind shows how deep the universe is and amazing Miyazaki has always been. I particularly am fond of how the diverse characters, plot lines, and nations interact over the seven volumes. I feel very similarly about these stories as I do Dune, but while they share certain environmental themes, their arguments about messianic figures differ. I can't wait to read it again.
