This book used to belong to my gran, but after she passed away, I inherited it. This year, my mom and I found ourselves reading stories aloud to each other from this collection. We would alternate between listener and reader. Doing this filled me with so much happiness, and it reminded me of the simple pleasures experienced in my childhood. We were impressed over how entrepreneurial and empowered Beatrix's characters were, and I was surprised that the atmosphere wasn't all *Disney princess*, rainbows and sunshines. The stories were certainly a lot more violent than I remember them being.

Cute and light, but with some serious themes. This is great collection of classic stories. Most were unfamiliar to me, so I'm glad I finally got a chance to read these children's classics.
