Ji-Won is an incredibly complex character who takes you on a strange ride that you almost agree with. This was a relatively fast read with short chapters and characters with depth. The story is truly a horror tale, rife with body horror that doesn't rely solely on gore. Is Ji-Won a monster...or are you?

Social critique of the fetishisation of asain women (perpetrated by white men in particular) with a nod to early 1800's hysteria thrown in, and an unreliable narrator.

Not as much body horror as you would expect but the opening chapters are relatively gross

This book was so incredible. I was hooked from the beginning and it did not let down once the horror kicked in. Every action felt purposeful in progressing the narrative of the state of this family.
