I don't care at all about characters or romance to want to push myself to finish.

This was a good short book. I didn’t like how they always said making love. I don’t like that phrase it’s cringey to me. Beyond that this book was pretty good. The beginning was the best part. The blackmailing plot point. It was just kind of out of place for me. Overall it was good for a short little book. 3/5

(3.75) this book was so peculiar and weird but i didn’t hate that. it was funny sometimes forced and cringy but in a way i can brush off. i liked how their sense of humour bounced off one another. the ending felt rushed but it was a fun fast read!

if you want to read this I'll tell you to go to the 80% of the book and start there, because before that, nothing really happens.
we basically know all about the characters since the first chapter, there's no development whatsoever in any of them.
the relationship is slow, and I actually liked their interactions, but not enough to like this book.
plot wise is a disaster, I don't care about the 763622 clichés here because I think that clichés can become great books, but this book feels like reading a wattpad fanfiction from 2012.
and I don't even want to start to talk about the main character being so "quirky and feminist" but judging every fucking woman, and the way the author narrates the story to make her look "perfect" and "not like other girls"... imagine how tired we are of that trope.
overall, I will say that it was actually funny and cute sometimes, but it's nothing memorable and I'm probably never picking this again

3 maybe 3.5 stars. Very cute, although I almost put it down very early on. Glad I kept going though. Mason and Madison had some very cute moments, and I love a man that’s so desperate for a women. Ugh. It gets me every time.

Rules of Engagement
By: J.T. Geissinger
Narrated by: Sebastian York, Andi Arndt

This could not have come to my ears at a better time. Some sunshine brought to a rainy Sunday, I devoured this listen. It's my first JT Geissinger listen and I loved it! Maddie owns Perfect Pairings and is asked to find a match for quarterback Mason Sparks. Grumpy, swearing, sarcastic Mason needs some help, and finding a wife may be the answer. But can even the sweetest of people find someone for this man? And our story begins! I love a good opposites attracts story, and this one is it. Maddie is smart and I love that she doesn't take any hostility. She gives it right back. Mason slowly wore me down, as he realized what he really wanted. And while they are polar opposites, the two had much more in common than they thought! Witty banter, high emotions, slow burning passion, this book is a joy to listen to!

And to make it even better, it's narrated by the team of Andi Arndt and Sebastian York. I don't think I even have to say how enjoyable this was. These two work so well together, it's always a pleasure to hear them.

what I liked:
x the humor & banter between the main characters
x Maddie's belief of the good in people
x Dick & Waldine! they should get their own story - I loved reading from their POVs.

what I didn't like:
x there were heavy topics present, but they were sometimes merely mentioned and there was no depth to it
x the ending was rushed; too much resolved in not enough pages

I had quite a few moments where I couldn't stop laughing and/or snorting. the banter was definitely on point

Rules for dealing with a stubborn jack...of a man:

1. Don't lose your smile.
1.A. Okay, that was next to impossible so don't lose your kindness and understanding.
1.B. Or in the event of loss of understanding, never resort to their level.
1.C. Once all Hades has broken loose, do NOT yell or name call.
1.C.i. Unless an overgrown orangutan of a man makes it utterly impossible not to, then pray! Pray that the letter opener never actually "accio"s to your hand.

2. ...At this point in getting to Mason, or Mace, it's clear that rule 1 and its subsidiaries will never be achieved, so do what I did:
- Put on comfy clothes (i.e. pajamas)
- grab your go to beverage for decompressing
- make sure you have a napkin/papertowel handy
- get snuggled down and enjoy because this is all out war!

With several laugh out loud moments and plenty of nerdom nods, Rules of Engagement with have even the hopelessly unromantic smiling and fully appreciating auras. (Go with it, you too will appreciate it!)

Just remember not to judge a girl by her Meth Addict Barbie Pink lipstick!
