This installment of the Dark Tower feels very much like a "transitional" book, a stepping stone to fill in some of the gaps before we get to the last Dark Tower. Honestly, (writing this after finishing both SOS and TDT) I can't really remember which plot events happened in SOS versus the beginning of TDT.

I will say, I really enjoyed getting more of Susannah -- I feel up until this point in the ka-tet's journey, she was like a shell of a character? And seeing her internal struggle with Mia gave her a lot of depth. I also felt sympathy and heartbreak for Mia.

This is by far my favorite of the series! I just think that the characters have finally grown into themselves, and I love them so much.
I also love the self insert that Stephen King wrote, I thought that was crazy. The journals at the end were great too.
