More entertaining than the previous installation... but still wondering how this will all end!

Song of Susannah was the least interesting of the Dark Novels since The Gunslinger and likely to be the most controversial of any of the novels. There are room for differing opinions on Stephen King making himself a major character in the series. For now, I thought it was strange but worked to a degree but will reserve final judgement until I read the concluding volume. Another aspect of Song of Susannah is it is much shorter in length than the previous two novels in the series, but unlike The Drawing of the Three which shares a similar page count, there are few laughs and the action is not fast moving. That is not to say Song of Susannah was not a good book, only a far less interesting one than the series has had since the beginning. Roland does not play all that big of a role here which leaves the book lacking in some respect and the whole book felt like it could have been just another section added to the end of Wolves of the Calla.

This book felt like an action movie, I LOVED it. Moved very fast, but packed a lot in. It was sorely needed for Susannah to get some well rounded character development through her arc with Mia. Eddie and Roland's quest was easily my favourite part of this book.

Started this on my old Nook Simple Touch, finished it on my shiny new Kindle Paperwhite! This is the first book that I didn't like more than the previous one. I still really really enjoyed it and had to know what happened, but this one was just a touch slower at points. There were even some points were words and concepts were introduced without explanation and that was kind of confusing. I think that was the point though, I don't know! Either way, this journey has been amazing. Part of me is afraid to read the other one too quickly, I don't want it to end :(
