Not my favorite, but recognize were putting the pieces in place for the final book. Excited to see how this series wraps.

You're losing me Stephen...

Better and Better

Warning - some quasi spoilers included

This is the first work of fiction I've read where the author writes himself into the story in such a way. I loved the twist that added.

I'm a little mad at the cliffhanger ending but I read this already knowing that VII was already written. I can only imagine the fear of readers who read this right after it came out. Ending sure does give me a drive to start the last stretch of the path and see what is in the clearing though.

Slower than the other books and definitely not my favorite of the series. Can't wait to read the final book and see what is to come for the ka-tet!!

Some people don't like this one because he breaks the 4th wall, but wherever this story has taken King, he's got to get there somehow. I will reserve judgement till I finish the last book. Hopefully it all ties together. So far I've really enjoyed this entire series. Makes me want to go back and reread some of the old books like "It" and "The Stand."

I found Song of Susannah to be much more interesting and compelling than [b:The Wolves of the Calla|4978|Wolves of the Calla (The Dark Tower, #5)|Stephen King|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1165517109s/4978.jpg|2754911]. We finally get more back story on Susannah, and there's enough leaping between worlds to keep everyone on their toes. I recall racing through this one, then feeling a bit out of breath and anxious for the last volume.

Way to end a book on a cliffhanger, Stevie! I'm just glad the next (and last) installment is already done and published.

Song of Susannah is an odd piece, one that might feel more out of place if all the DT books didn’t feel out of place. King dumps a lot of intent into this one, really setting it up to knock it down with VII. A bridge book for sure, but enjoyable.

Spoilers for whole series---

I find the Dark Tower series very uneven. Sometimes the prose is surprisingly good, sometimes it's just no....no. I feel like, if only King would have kept to Rolands fantasy world, these books would be somewhat good fantasy, but when he has to write in characters from his other books in sometimes strained ways (according to me), the story drops alot. I also cringe when they have to travel to New York all the friggin time, whats up with that? But the worst was when King wrote himself into the story, that was just laughable. As I said if he only would have kept himself to Rolands world, I would have appreciated this story alot more!

I must admit I hated the part where Stephen King wrote himself into the story. Totally unnecessary and really cheapened the storyline.
