This addition to the series is intended to payoff the things set up on the previous book of the series and overall it does, though some characters maybe get to squeak away too easily. Everything is more explained and laid out however and it's probably why this is a couplet instead of two indivual novels really. It also ends a section of the story in a huge way.

The world building here continues and you get more of the political movement if you want it. If you don't you're probably going to get somewhat annoyed at it. This one might be a bit complicated just because there are a lot of small "tactical" elements and they can get you hung up possibly.

The one thing the series does though is stay grounded. You can see a lot of modern influences on everything in the future world and tell there are cycles where we do the same things. Unlike most sci-fi they don't make up new words for stuff we know so it stays easy to read or listen to.
