In her newest book release, Lisa Harris expertly delivers a story with intrigue, suspense and a thrilling chase. The story was well written and moved at a great pace with plenty of twists and turns along the way to keep me interested. Both Madison and Jonas are complex, well-developed characters that I found relatable and enjoyable. I was hoping for more romance in this story, but it is clearly part of a series that will continue so this book appears to lay the foundation for future stories. The Escape was a clean, easy-to-read and exciting story that I do recommend to readers who enjoy suspense and thrillers on a mild level. I’m looking forward to reading more from this series in the future and learning more about these two characters and their relationship!

THE ESCAPE by Lisa Harris is the first book in the US Marshall series. It is a Christian action adventure suspense novel that moves quickly between the states of Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado and Texas. Two US Marshalls are assigned to a prisoner transport from Seattle to Denver when their plane crashes. What follows is a week of non-stop suspense, stress, and action.
Madison James and Jonas Quinn are the protagonists in this novel. Both are US Marshalls and the point of view switches seamlessly back and forth between them. They are easy to like and root for, and were credible and relatable. The author does a good job of giving them depth including flaws and virtues. While Madison was a strong protagonist in a lot of ways, there were occasions when I felt she should have been portrayed more strongly and less in need of help. The secondary characters are not as well-developed in this first novel, but they enhanced the story. Hopefully, some of them will get more depth in the next book in the series. The world-building was great and ranged from rugged and remote backcountry to busy airports. The internal and external conflicts were well defined and were organic and believable; arising out of characterization and circumstance rather than feeling forced or contrived.

I also learned about the US Marshall Service and their fugitive investigations and how they work with other law enforcement agencies. The author weaved this into the story line without detracting from the flow and action.

Overall, this was an action-packed and entertaining novel with the hint of a future romance that kept me fully engaged. The story was compelling and a great start to a new series. I highly recommend this to those that enjoy action-packed suspense stories. The expected publication date is November 3, 2020. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Revell and Lisa Harris provided a complimentary digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley. This is my honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way.

Well that was intense.

Besides being intense, The Escape is a wonderful novel filled with loveable but flawed & hurting characters who I couldn't help but spend the entire novel rooting for, hurting for, and rejoicing for.

This is the first Lisa Harris book I've read but it most certainly won't be the last!

This book had all the potential to be great. It had an interesting plot involving two US marshals who were transporting two prisoners, and the plane crashes, killing the pilots, and one of the prisoners, and the two marshals have to go on a wild chase to apprehend the second prisoner. in theory, that sounds great. But in this book, it was ridiculous and infuriating. How many times they let the  prisoner slip through their fingers. I don’t have enough patience to read more books in this series. Even though it ended on an intriguing cliffhanger. I’ll have to find a summary someplace else. But if you like the edge of your seat, nonstop, action adventure type of story, where two law-enforcement partners are on the verge of falling in love, then this book might be right up your alley.

Madison James and Jonas Quinn, both US Marshals, are assigned to transport two dangerous criminals by plane to a new destination. After the plane crashes, Madison and Jonas must track an escaped murderer in the wilderness and beyond to try and keep him from killing anyone else. At the same time, Madison still doesn't know who killed her late husband. However, clues have been turning up.

This is a fast paced, action-packed Christian thriller with many twists and turns. It was hard to put down and I stayed on the edge of my seat. There are interesting and surprising developments, and the characters are very well written, especially the "villain." There is a hint of romance and a gentle Christian message of the hope God can provide in dark times. It is the first book in the U.S. Marshals series by Lisa Harris, and I can't wait to read the rest.

I received a free copy of this book from Revell via Netgalley. My review is voluntary.

Well...that was obnoxious. Very long with the same thing happening over and over again. And reg climax was very anticlimactic :\

Harris has outdone herself!
US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn have stolen my heart.
Madison and Jonas are paired together for a routine prison transport, but that't the last "routine" thing they experience. When the plane goes down, they're lucky to be alive, but one of the prisoners has escaped, and it's a race to beat the clock to find him. This story takes you all over the country tracking a con man who leaves destruction in his wake. You can't help but keep the pages turning as you become more engrossed in the story and invested in the characters.
While my heart hates a cliff-hanger, I love love love series that continue forward with the same characters. I am anxiously anticipating the release of The Chase so we can watch them hunt another killer and see if Madison and James will ever be more than friends!
