Love a female lead that goes through this thriller ride. I enjoyed this one and look forward to more in this series.
I really really liked this story. It was really heavy at times, but I’m excited to see how this series progresses.

One of the cheesiest books I’ve ever read. Dialogue felt like 13 year olds wrote it after watching Law and Order for the first time. Last 40 pages or so were the best part, only thing that redeemed it from a 1 to a 2.

New Baldacci characters emerge in this fast paced, page-turning stand-alone intense thriller.
Baldacci in his typical way keeps the tension high, and weaves a twisty tale starring two intriguing women leads that you will want to meet.

Combination of cheesy dialogue, poor narration - the detective leading the case had a terrible hick accent and the kids voices were grating too. It's unnecessary, I think, to have a man on hand just for reading the male dialogue and it's rarely done well and wasn't in this case.

I remember I enjoyed this, but I don’t remember why. So in a way it’s forgettable. Flew through it, so it was well paced, but I really can’t bring myself to remember any details.
Single Mom v Con Woman
Review of the Grand Central Publishing audiobook (April 18, 2023) narrated by [a:Lisa Flanagan|14652631|Lisa Flanagan|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png] and [a:Corey Carthew|19565351|Corey Carthew|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png], released simultaneously with the Grand Central Publishing hardcover/eBook editions.
I really liked the lead character of single mom Mickey Gibson in this new series by veteran thriller writer David Baldacci. Stay-at-home mom Gibson works for a firm on asset recovery. She becomes involved with a murder and a con-woman when she is directed to do a value assessment at a luxury mansion estate. As always with Baldacci there are quite a number of improbable events and coincidences along the way. You still root for Gibson to solve all of the mysteries though.
The narration by Lisa Flanagan (all female voices) and Corey Carthew (all male voices) was excellent throughout. I did get somewhat confused though due to the number of aliases used by various characters. By the end several of the characters switched allegiances as well, which made for further confusion. And of course, some goodies are revealed to be baddies and viceversa in the requisite twists. All of that may have been harder to follow on audio and not as much of a problem on paper (or if you realize you should be making notes
