I will not be finishing this book, I just can’t. I made it to page 153 so I’m marking it as read and rating it. I think I might have liked it if I knew what I was getting myself into, and I understand why people like this book

Beautifully written, albeit a bit strange for my taste. Some twist and turns caught me off guard, as in the way of me not understanding how the characters were thinking, OR how certain things weren’t a bigger deal than they played it off to be? Still, the language moved me in some way. Although I constantly felt sad while reading this book, for some reason.

some people just don't leave us, even if they are long gone, we are naturally caged into the past that making us believe that what we had is what we have and we will have. Elio showed that if he cannot have the person he desires, no one can have himself either.

I knew this wasn't going to be for me but my best friend wanted me to read it. I would never have read it otherwise.

At times heartbreaking and beautiful, at times fucking weird. The peach scene from the movie has nothing on the shared toilet scene?! Also the writing was a bit pretentious and hard to follow at times.
