Wright is at her best in a longer form. Each chapter documents various plagues throughout history and parallels them to modern society with dry wit, critique of their methods, yet also empathy for people doing the best they can with limited technology or knowledge while offering scathing rebukes for those who antagonize the situation. Though the book released before the COVID-19 pandemic, it is highly poignant and clarvoyant for what came in 2020.
