There are certain aspects of this series that grate like nails on a chalkboard for me (men only being able to call their wives and girlfriends their girl, for one), and I really didn't need a romance series about traumatized Marine veterans, but somehow I ended up really caring about what happened to Marcie and Ian. Despite many annoying details, the story was heart-warming in the best way.

I suspect this has something to do with the almost stand-alone nature of this books. Unlike other Virgin River books, this one focuses entirely on Ian and Marcie, and when Jack, Mel, and other series regulars show up, it's only to support the main story. I suspect book #5 is going to remind me how much I disliked having half a dozen storylines happening simultaneously.

SPOILERS: tbh disappointed this didn’t turn out to be a gay soldier romance 🤷‍♀️

Predictable and just a little sappy. Exactly how I like my Christmas romance!

Perfectly serviceable fluff. I appreciate that the characters aren't kept apart by contrived obstacles.

I read all the other books in the Virgin River series and loved them. A Virgin River Christmas is a stand alone from the series but it still has all the old characters from the series in it. Enoyed meeting new people. So glad Robyn Carr did a christmas book.

This one really tugged at my heart strings. The way these two characters bring out what is best in each other in such a slow and quiet way.

Last year, I watched a few episodes of the Virgin River TV show. They were pretty good for occupying my mind while exercising. So, I thought I'd try one of the books the TV show is based on, to read while on long walks. Given that Christmas just passed, this seemed like a good one. It was OK, a little bland and certainly formulaic. I'm not normally a reader of romance novels, and this didn't do anything to change my mind.

A Virgin River Christmas has been my favorite book out of the Virgin River series. I loved the emotional, tender storyline between Marcie and Ian. This book is set in Virgin River with the regular characters however the focus is on Marcie and Ian.

You can read this book without starting the series. I highly recommend reading this book if you need a tender, emotional, romantic novel.

So far my favorite in the series. Can’t wait to read the others.
