There was a lot going on in this book. Chelsea, a girl finally getting a break in a rock band, definitely has a lot on her plate. She's the type of protagonist that you must stay with throughout the whole entire book because she really can get on your nerves. That didn't bug me as much as it could have especially since she's still a teenage girl in the mist of stardom, it's hard not to sympathize with her.
Although I didn't enjoy it as much I wanted to, there were some elements that I really did like and really did shine through for me.
For one thing, I am so glad Lauren, Beckett's somewhat girlfriend for the first half, wasn't part of that mean girl/bitch trope that always seems to be there whenever the main protagonist has another girl rivaling for a boy's affections. They got along! It was so, so sweet. I was actually a bit upset when Lauren didn't stick around.
Another was I loved the boys. Even Pem, who was an absolute pain in the ass, but all of them were endearing in way or another. I may have had a soft spot for the main character's love interest for his easy going nature and charm; Beckett was probably the most lovable of the boys. And of course Malcolm was a league on his own: he's funny even without trying to be. It's safe to say I did like them a lot more than I initially thought I would.
The last thing I would say I loved was how chaotic the book was. Normally, a chaotic book leaves to messy and unsatisfying endings, but I actually thought the ending was perfect for the way everything was headed. Even though, it's not a book I will love endlessly, it was still cute and still had it's moments. The chaotic essence of it, is what made me see how wild the media can be especially for our narrator, Chelsea, who is just becoming a rock star. It led to some really intense and awkward moments, but still without it, would we have really seen what stardom is really like? I highly doubt it.
Some other notes:
- Lucas was a tool. He took up far too much time in the book. His purpose was more cliche than I could possibly think of and I LOVE cliches. Hated him. Lol.
- Really wished we saw more of Mandy and Chelsea's friendship. It was messy and I was disappointed how messy it did get, but I'm happy the ending happening because or then I would have been really annoyed.
- Seeing Chelsea struggling with opening up was actually really relatable and I am so glad Huang kept that consistently throughout the book!!
- There wasn't that many grammar/spelling mistakes either so that was a plus!
All in all, it was cute and easy to read. So if you ever need a fast book to read, this is for you.

I'd have enjoyed it way more without the Lucas Rivers plot.

Maybe I'm feeling a bit under the weather with college stress, besides the exams and such, but this book is making me utterly bored. I could care less about the characters right now and the last straw: please don't mention, even as a joke, having PTSD from working with an annoying boss. I'm fairly certain any other time I picked this up I wouldn't be so inflamed by this detail, but one of my friends is currently struggling with this, and to see it trivialized in this way grates on my rather short nerves. So sorry, but I don't think I'm finishing this one.
Side note: I apologize for how rude I sound, but this is one thing that I cannot tolerate at the moment.
Thank you to Netgalley and Random House for proving me with a review copy.

4 for most of it, but I think it dropped to a 3.5 for the last bit. It was a lot of fun, and I love the insight into touring and the logistics of the music business, but I would've liked more romance I think.
