This book was definitely more political and had a lot woven in, but I really enjoyed the intricacies of it all. It took a bit to get used to the new characters and there was a bit of an age gap romance that I didn't quite like, but everything else was about on par with the first book. I'm looking forward to reading the next one.

“I live in an apocalyptic dream.”

I think if this was one of the first books someone had ever read, they might swear off books for forever, lmao. That being said, I love a weird sci-fi epic, but once again Frank could use an editor. This one is more palace intrigue than the desert guerilla action of Dune, but still pretty fun. Also think the shorter length on this one hampers the characters and some of the plot beats.
