If I wouldnt have such big nostalgia for this, I would have scored this book lower but its hard for me to judge the jerky nature of greg in this while having so many good memories about it.

I can see why kids love these books. There is a lot of talk of poop, boogers, and other random middle school humor. I found some parts really witty, but I tend to have an immature sense of humor sometimes, so was it really wit or just me? I found I really disliked the main character. I understood him, having taught middle school and remembering those days from my own experience. But my hope is that he shows growth throughout the series. In this book, he was ungrateful, snivelly, and a bully in his own right. But I do cut the kid slack and feel many middle schoolers can relate to what he experiences. I hope they learn from him throughout the series, though!

eh just one of the the books I read as a child didn't really move me much I expected it to be good since I saw kids who didn't usually read read it but eh it's a kids book it raised me badly too so eh

this is a greg heffley hate club

I had to read it to see what all the hullabaloo was about. Now I know, and I'm done reading any of them. Definitely 3rd grade material, and I will steer my 7th graders away from this one.

This was a really cute book, interesting concept. I was curious to see what the buzz was about.
