Hmmm. A jumble of thoughts.
At times, I got immersed but I couldn't help but want a tiny bit more. I don't what that someone else is but...
Interesting commentary on hereditary conditions, family ownership and cultural responsibility. Thinking about it, it's interesting Gaspar is a medium on his father's side but the pressure to be a medium comes from his mums who are the rich families in the cult. So there's a lot of commentary on money, privilege, slavery etc within the cult setting.
Interesting friendships and relationships too. Gaspar and his mates are the best parts I think. While I did find his parents and uncle interesting they didn't capture my attention in the same way.
I want to say the plotting felt slightly off but I dont know.
I enjoyed the time setting, the background of aids added to the later part of the novel for me.
I enjoyed that it always kept something hidden and never had an easy answer.
