"He said the beauty of travel was that if you never came home for long, you never had to face your problems. There was always another town, another country, another treasure to distract."

The Lady Rogue is written for lovers of Indiana Jones, The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue, and Stalking Jack the Ripper. In this winding mystery, Theodora and Huck find themselves traveling deeper and deeper in to the Eastern European countryside searching for Theo's father and a powerful relic that once belonged to Vlad the Impaler. While that relic at first appeared to be an average ring in need of authentication, a much more expansive, and very dark and powerful, history of the object unravels. This was well-written and exciting, with a little dose of romance and a heavy dose of frightening magic. The Lady Rogue is a thrilling historical fiction with a wealth of secrets for readers to unearth.

The only little issue I did have was that this book supports treasure-hunting, which I cannot support. FYI, while this was a fun and entertaining book, "treasure-hunters" a thieves and destroyers of culture and scientific information/material. I'll never support it.

1.5ish stars. Was just a rather meh book. The characters were one dimensional and I didn't find it all that well written to make up for it. There are some interesting concepts, the whole Vlad ring thing was fun. But the whole storyline was not as developed as I would have liked.
Theo is a whiny, rich brat child who thinks everything should be given to her and that nothing should ever have consequences for her. She does get mildly better by the end but mostly I couldn't stand her.
Huck is a one dimensional pretty boy love interest who knows how to do all the things but doesn't have a personality to stand on. I also felt nothing for the romance between him and Theo.
I did however like the witchery and atmospheric ideas. That just wasn't enough to make the book worth the read, at least it wasn't terribly long

Easy read. Super cute, nothing that blew me away though. It was an enjoyable read, good to get you out of a reading slump!

My expectation for this book was way off. I was thinking it was a vampire paranormal story based on Dracula/Vlad. It was not that. which I was a bit disappointed and did affect a bit on my enjoyment of the book. However, what the story was is actually decent. I did like the back and forth between Huck and Theodora. Though, Huck has my heart and was the reason I loved this book as much as I did. I'm unsure of what exactly the author was going for because the story was a mix of genres. I think, because it wasn't clear, the plot I found lacking. There was a mystery plot, bit of romance, some historical fiction, and then a coming of age story. It felt a bit convoluted. I did enjoy the bits of history and getting to know Vlad the human instead of the the fantastical, and Huck really made the story worthwhile. I'll be keeping an eye out for more books by this author because I did enjoy the writing once I figured out what was going on.

This is a fun crossover between historical fiction and fantasy. While there aren’t any vampires (shocking, I know) there’s magic and adventure with a smidge of romance.

I enjoyed the plot and characters, but there were times the pacing felt slow. It didn’t help that the chapters are quite long.

delightful!

I don’t want to say I disliked this book, but I did. I hated the story, the plot, honestly the everything. ESPECIALLY the ending
