Loved the messages in this book, but it kept suddenly changing tangents and the ending was very abrupt. Unsure about it - glad it was short

this was a really really cool concept, but i just felt like the very obvious theme of the book was really beating me over the head. i wish the author had trusted his readers to be able to pick up on themes on their own. the writing was just too dry and matter of fact for me. i felt very disconnected from the character.

BUT as a cat owner and lover, i did tear up a few times, and i thought the focus on how important a mundane and quiet life can be was really lovely.

A mixture of humor and (rather clichéd) life lessons, heavy on flashbacks and movie references, written in a simple, minimalist style. All in all, a warm, quirky story with magical elements, but trite and repetitive in places and with an overly sentimental ending.
