I was encouraged to read this by some new friends who wanted to do so before it appears on Netflix with an amazing cast.
I think it will be great fun on Netflix since it was great fun until it wasn’t. Approaching the end of the story, it started to cross multiple paths to put you off from the obvious suspects…and the result was less than satisfactory and sad.
I would’ve rated it a 4 until the last 100 pages.

I came back to this audiobook after initially DNFing because the movie is coming out next Thursday on Netflix. This book is pretty slow to start, but had some funny moments and was more of a cozy mystery. There were a couple turns the story took that I was not expecting and kept the story interesting. I found it was a bit hard to follow all the different characters at times, but you’re eventually able to figure things out. I think this will be a good movie and am looking forward to it, but I am pretty interested in continuing the book series as well. May need to keep a character list moving forward for the books haha.

I’m happy I found this series. The first one bodes well. The Thursday Murder Club convenes each week in the Jigsaw Room at Cooper’s Chase, a posh retirement community in Kent., England. They discuss cold cases the local police haven’t been able to solve. Then, murder comes to their doorstep.
This was a fun and funny tale, but with a compelling little mystery and an appealing mix of main characters. The prose skillfully sets scenes and fleshes out characters, but it’s a quick, easy read. I’ll gladly give this series a place in my beloved world of British crime literature. Looking forward to the next one when it becomes available at the library.
