This FMC had me cackling!

- Urban fantasy
- Paranormal romance
- Witty banter
- Snarky FMC
- Morally grey MMC
- Forced proximity

I listened to this one on audio and I didn't know Nikki St. Crowe could write such hilarious FMCs. I have only read her Lost Boys series which was super dark and spicy. This one was not as dark and a medium burn on the series (starts lower and gets much spicier by book 3).

I also really enjoy Bridgette Bordeaux and her voice acting!

Fiery sinful first book in a series

A read this series after the Never King series as I was left wanting to read more by this author. Nikki St Crowe is one of my newest favorite authors and I can see myself reading everything of hers. This one was a fun, quick to read book with just enough spice, angst and alpha male.
I'm going to read book 2 immediately.

The tone was all over the place. It starts out early 2000's camp, but with a cover like this and a six hour run time, I didn't anticipate high fantasy or even a plot. Then the book jumps to trauma real quick, throws in a sexual assault that added absolutely nothing to the plot it's desperately grasping for, oh, and the president of the United States shows up. Worst of all, it's a series, so all that nonsense for a cliffhanger? It's a no from me. This book is the equivalent of a bad first date.

I forgot the main character's name already. Her defining personality trait/characterization is her temper, but I didn't see anything that the average 15 year old American couldn't replicate in her outbursts, supernatural powers aside. Why is she pseudo-friends with a black ops guy? Why are we acting like it's totally chill that our bestie is dating a commander of a niche secret operative that has connections to the Whitehouse? Hello???

Honestly nothing special. It was free on Audible so I got the complete series, and that's the only reason I'll finish it. The book was short, and very basic enemies to lovers. It's a fated-mates/insta-love, which is one of my least favorite troupe in the genre.

Rain left me underwhelmed, and Wrath has 0 depth. he's just hot and a demon, Rain is just there with no particular characteristics (she's a Aries and keeps repeating that like that's a character shape).

Not a great book.
