This book was a gift from a friend from a few years ago! Finally got around to reading it. It's a sci-fi/comics classic. I expected more of a space opera, but instead got a fast-moving and plot-heavy tale.
This book is filled with inventive thoughts and unique world building choices. That said, I often found myself lost in the characters' motivations and struggling to connect with them. I wish it dug more into the characters or gave them opportunities to grow.

Beautiful artwork that kept me engaged throughout, the story was a bit meandering but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

“Giraud also committed himself of a perilous and sinuous journey of self-discovery in which Jodorowsky: friend of shamans, drug consumer, and master of the Tarot dr Marseille, became one of Giraud’s guides, if not guru.”
Unreal art but underwhelming storytelling. Too much esoteric crackpot bullshit.
I feel like maybe I didn't read all of it, because you can't trust downloads, but maybe I did. I like the style in this, more than the substance. I seem to prefer Moebius's other works, for some reason.
3.5/5.0
I'm still trying to digest the 300 pages of The Incal! I went in thinking it would be a straight up space opera like The Fifth Element and Heavy Metal movies that borrowed from The Incal heavily. But it's much different and much more than that...and certainly more trippy. Moebius' art is great. I found some of the dialogue somewhat juvenile. I'm not sure if this is due to translation or choice. Regardless, a bit disappointing for a supposedly "mature" graphic novel.
The Incal probably merits another reading after further digestion...

Fantastic read
Glad I was able to read this amazing story! The story, the characters, and of course the incredible art! Definitely worth buying to own a physical copy.
