Far too short, short story. Sad to boot, great writing as always but not for me.

This was an emotional short story but I have to admit a lot shorter than I expected. It ended at about 30% which took me by surprise. Still, it was enough for me to enjoy the writer's style and I would definitely read more by her.

It's just... sad I don't know what to say anymore. The plot, the characters, the writing style, everything's good. But it's really short, too short. I feel like it can be a lot more than this.

Questo breve racconto tocca il tema dell'emarginazione raccontando una storia semplice ma allo stesso tempo reale e genuina. Mi piace lo stile che ho trovato accattivante. Dispiace davvero che non fosse un intero romanzo.

I knew this was a short story but have to admit was very sad when it ended at 30% and then you get a taster of a full length novel that I assume follows on from this short. I can't believe in such a short space of time the author had me in tears. It really does make for a heart warming and emotional read. Will certainly be keeping my eye out for the full length book.

It was really an amazing story that made me sob and any book that has the power to make me cry it is really worth a read...

It's been a while since I read any Veronica Henry, as I found her earlier novels (Honeycote etc) disappointing when I read them during my year in France (but as English novels were rare, I kept at them!) but this was quite good. In fact I'm considering reading the novel that this is a prequel too, except that I can tell that it's going to make me cry and I'm not sure that I can cope with that. Still, the actual short story here, although very short, is well put together and compelling and does what it was setting out to - namely convince you to read the novel by setting up enough character and story strands that you're interested in to leave you interested and intrigued. Don't pay for it, but if it's free it's worth it.

A lovely short story that made me feel all the feels.

An incredibly heart-warming read that will make you smile and cry. I thoroughly enjoyed this and will be looking to read other books by Veronica if I ever need a pick me up.

It got me out of a reading slump for which I will always be grateful.

I thought I was in afor a quick read with a heartwarming story, problem was... it wasn't a story. It was fragments, maybe, incomplete to say the least. Only the first part was cohesive, and quite frankly the only reason it got 3 stars, the second part was merely an introduction to another book? Not sure.
