I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from Gwenpool, but the premise of a real world girl being caught up in the Marvel universe and thinking consequences don't matter was too good to pass up. Definitely glad my library got this one in.

Gwen is a really fun character. This story was genuinely surprising, and had some real laughs in it. The art didn't leave me totally thrilled for a lot of it, but enough of it was doable for it to not be too distracting. Always glad to see Howard the Duck, which I really need to get caught up on.

Looking forward to volume two, which it turns out my library also has a copy of. Recommended for anyone looking for a darkly funny superhero comic with unusual twists.

Super fun! This was a great first volume, funny and action-filled. I'm excited to see where this title will go, and whether the story will pick up heavier themes.

I don’t know what prompted me to scoop this up, but I learned later that Gwenpool, while not directly meant to be a Gwen Stacy version of Deadpool, shares some aspects of both enough where the confusion that I had going in makes a little more sense. At the end of the day, though, this is just a gender-bent Deadpool with less vulgarity and more fun. When it works, it works, and when it doesn’t it’s a bit of a drag. So a little hit-or-miss for me, but if you’re someone who has enjoyed where Marvel has gone as of late, you might get more out of this than I ultimately did.
