I read this book while in college and have read several times since then. It was a life changing book for me then and continues to influence how I think on love now.

Very basic and very short, yet holds up quite well in a general way over 100+ years.
Positives: this homily/sermon can easily be read in one sitting. The main point is crystal clear. The message of the text promotes further reflection/study.
Negatives: the allusions/illustrations are trapped in late 19th century Britain. Drummond makes the point that specific references will fail to make sense in a decade, and now his reader is more than a century removed. His prophecy was indeed correct.
Overall, great central idea and strong support, but without context some aspects may seem nonsensical to the average reader.
