The audiobook was quite good actually, really liked the narrator.
The book itself was not great. There is a lot of reference to Japanese ghosts, which is not the issue, however, as someone who knows nothing about Japanese culture, I struggled to understand the references. The biggest issue was Cat, the main character. I don’t like her. I don’t like how she treated her friends, but I don’t really like her friends either. Overall, disliked all of the characters, except maybe Lin.

2.5 ⭐️: Honestly, I had high hopes for this book despite the poor reviews. I wanted a spooky book to get me in the mood for Halloween and all this accomplished was giving me a disjointed attempt at a haunted house story. The characters are not likeable at all and there is so much Japanese language that’s unexplained which caused a lot of confusion for me. Not much else I can say other than I was disappointed in this horror novel.

I overall enjoyed it. The book kinda throws you into the characters with well established backgrounds pretty quickly but I think it works in its favor considering it is short.
