I kept waiting for the book to get started, then it ended. Some good creepy visuals, but the scariest part is the cover art.

Very disappointed; the book started with a lot of potential and fell flat in every area. None of the characters were likable or had any depth/complexity to them, the horror/cultural aspects were weak and brushed over at best, and the ending was rushed and had no substance.

The author was more concerned with describing the scene than setting it. I was too distracted by the constant barrage of metaohors to notice any movement of the plot. I truly am not interested in the exact shape and curve of the mushrooms growing out of the books in the decrepit library when there are actual ghosts in the next room. We go from the protagonist describing for the 5th time what one of her companions looks like or the memory of an encounter between them in the past to some horror plot device. There was zero build-up, and it was wholly disappointing.
