I enjoyed this book, but I much prefer Ready Player One.

I unexpectedly loved [book:Ready Player One|9969571], so I went into this book with high expectations, and I ended up being disappointed.

This was a bit anti-climatic, and I hate it when
an author brings a character back from the dead just to kill them off later in the book.

Ah well, you win some you lose some.

It was GOOD, but not magically wonderful awesome like RPO. Poor Ernest Cline, his first book was so stellar, he'll probably always have to defend any future books against it. I hope this is actually a series, because the world building was excellent. I'd love to see what happens to the world after the end of this book.

This book has a great premise, that people have been playing video games, unknowingly training for an alien invasion. I think I would enjoy anything that Ernest Cline put out, but this one had a few things that bugged me.

The stoner, band vibe I got from the men on the moon base annoyed me, it just seemed a little childish for men hardened by war...

Overall, I enjoyed it but it lacked a little something for me.

Considering how much I loved Ready Player One, I was prepared to love this book as well. Sadly, it was just not good. The idea for the story was a good one, but the execution was rushed and frankly, boring. I got to the point that I started skimming battle scenes just to finish the book. The ending was just lazy.
