I enjoyed this book, but I would have enjoyed it more if the author hadn't seemed so intent on making others look bad while propping up his own accomplishments. Make no mistake - Mr Ressler had an amazing career, and accomplished more in law enforcement than the majority of folks, but is it necessary to call out those who lacked his vision (by name) while simultaneously pointing out how he "won" in spite of them. Dick move.

An amazing insight into the very first true FBI profiler, the man who coined the term ‘Serial Killer’. I was intrigued, sickened, and fascinated all throughout.

This book is so interesting. I am very fascinated with psychology and why people, especially killers, do what they do. There are parts of the book that are gruesome and go into detail about killings. Overall a food read.
Interesting content. Annoying author.
it's always fascinating to read about serial killers and violent criminals and all those who are so disparately different from normal. and an educational story of how psychology and profiling came to be in the FBI. but oh my god this author is OBSESSED with himself. the way he writes about his own accomplishments is how someone else should write about you in your biography. you shouldn't have to tell me how great you are every chapter. your work will speak for itself. I would very much like to read more of his research but would never want to interact with him in real life. this book is also wildly outdated being published in 1992

Interesting, sometimes grotesque and unnerving, and in some ways inspiring in terms of what Ressler and his colleagues have done to advance both psychology and the business of catching and stopping serial murderers.

Interesting read, but not on the same level as Mindhunter. Also got a bit repetitive
Graphic: Death, Gore
DNF at 70%. Too similar to Mindhunter but with even more self praise.
Fascinating read about the development of criminal profiling written by the man who coined the term "serial killer". It wasn't the most well written book I've ever read, but the information was incredibly interesting and it is great to get it directly from one of the first profilers
