This one just did not grab me. The premise was too out there. I really didn't care for the characters.

I didn't really know what to expect from this comic, but I was pleasantly surprised by it. Phillips' art is excellent as usual, bringing his evocative, noir-like style to a book that seems right up his alley: a pulpy World War II caper in the vein of The Dirty Dozen and The Great Escape.

It was the story that had me nervous, considering that it wasn't written by Phillips' long time collaborator Ed Brubaker, but I was surprised at the well paced, fun story that I got from Vehrmann. His teaming up with Phillips proves to be fruitful, with Vehrmann putting out a fun, fast paced story and Phillips providing his usual expressive art style to compliment it. Phillips manages to combine a pulpy, fast paced action with the dark, brooding atmosphere that he's renowned for. It consistently has me delighted with his draughtsmanship. Then again, there is nothing to beat an excellent artist.
