Tragedy porn with a point, this book did a number on my heartstrings. With the tragedy of generations compounding, and the expectations of society closing in, some characters really had no hope at happiness to begin with, and in the end even those who had lost it. Now this was partly their fault (I'm looking at you Heathcliff, you tragi-malevolent devil) but I still wish things could have turned out differently.

The ending, at least, wasn't as sad as it could have been.

I'm giving this book 5 stars, since I actually cared about everyone (except Nelly and Hindley).

I'm glad to have finished another classic.
It is intense and at times confusing, but nevertheless wonderful.

Heathcliffe would rather do all those shitty things than go to therapy...

(read by Joanne Froggatt) i'm not sure what i got out of this book? not sure what my thoughts were or are? most characters are deplorable but you also have a lot of sympathy for them? i think i'd need a couple of rereads to make much sense of what's happening but it's so dense i don't think i will bother in the near future?
