Volume 1 is a good mix of whimsy and serious, a combo Rainbow Rowell excels with: considering I'm a light reader of the Marvelverse (more knowledgeable about the films and TV projects), it still got me interested in these lesser known characters. 

I was left a little unsatisfied by the book, just because it was clearly still building up the storyline that would continue past this point (it would have been nice to have a bit more closure or at least a mini-arc finish for vol. 1). However, that's kind of the shortcoming of a lot of these short volumes.
