Stalkers & then some

This anthology took me 4 months to read simply because some of the stories were so fucked up that I needed breaks in between them. This was my first step into the world of dark romance and while I loved many of the stories, this book was a bit much at times. There are about 30 short stories, each that explore the stalking theme and are supposedly romances. I say “supposedly” because there are some stories in this collection that should be in a horror anthology as opposed to dark romance like the story “Blossoms In The Dark (A flower in the dark prequel)” by Ally Vance. That story was about a man who kills women named after Flowers like Rose for example, hands them over to his creepy friend who “plays with them” before putting them through the morgue kiln where he works and then gives the ashes back to said man to plant “roses” in his backyard using the ashes as fertilizer. There’s a bit more to it but even though it wasn’t what I consider romance, I still loved the creepiness of it all.

I bought this anthology specifically for Born Sinner and I loved that one but what surprised me the most was how much I took to the MM stories. Love is love and all that but I usually don’t read MM stories as it’s just never been my reading preference but now I am open to reading more of them because these stories were so ungodly hot and I loved every single one of them. There were only a few stories I didn’t care for but it was more of “it’s me not you thing”. The only negatives I found were there were many typos, misspelled words and terrible grammar throughout. The story that takes place in the 70’s referred to California as the Sunshine State and that’s not correct, it’s the Golden State. The Sunshine State is Florida although this mistake seems to happen often. That is just an example of something that should have been caught by an editor or beta readers! Some may not have noticed but I live in California so it made me stop and question it and that takes away from the reading experience.

Overall though I liked this and it introduced me to a lot of new authors and series that I never would have discovered otherwise. While I’d prefer not to have a stalker anytime soon, I did enjoy reading the creepy lengths someone will go to get their “beloved”.

This was a great introduction to the untamed sons mc series. Fury is a man haunted and twisted by the demons in his head, but when his path crosses with Amalia, he can't seem to keep away from the innocent angel before him. She was in the wrong place at the wrong time, but she seems drawn to his darkness, because she still sees a light within him. Cannot wait for more.

After reading book one in this series, I wanted to know how lola and Sam started out. Now I've read their connection, I'm enthralled with their love affair. It gives you the Romeo and Juliet vibe. Star crossed lovers, hate and violence is the only currency they understand. Sam is possessive, he's for the Sanders / Santiago domineering genes poring from his body. I just love it. Lola, I got a feel for her character in bad blood, and this prequel only amps up her persona. He calls her little mouse, but see her as a beautiful bird, majestic and not as innocent to the world as the male s in the carrera cartel perceive. I can't wait for tainted blood to see where this story goes, for all concerned. Amazing read.

Pretty all over the place when it comes to ratings but even if there are some I didn't like all of the short stories are fast paced so it wasn't too annoying.

Mafia, prequel to a series. Probably won't read it.

N. Isabelle Blanco - Sacrilege⭐⭐⭐⭐
First time coming across this kind of paranormal "romance" it was interesting with the religious aspect added to it.

Claire C. Riley - Make me Yours⭐⭐⭐
Why are the male stalkers always represented as evil and usually self-aware of what they're doing but the women stalkers are crazy and/or delusional ?

Raven Armor - Prey ⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2
Really enjoyed it but I think the resolution was a little too rushed compared to the rest.

A.K. Macbride - Right Side of Wrong ⭐⭐⭐

Cassia Brightmore - Deviant ⭐⭐⭐1/2
Without that epilogue it could have been a 4 stars but that's just too much and too convenient as an (open) ending.

Ker Dukey - Scent ⭐⭐⭐1/2

*review based on Ryleigh Sloan’s Ensnared*

So I’m not usually a huge fan of short stories, I find it hard to get into them & get enough out of them. That being said I think she did an excellent job with the pace of the short story & she gave me everything I felt I needed & I didn’t feel lost at all! It was quick & it was hot & it was brutal.

Looking forward to reading more anthologies out of this one!

So I have been waiting for this and just to read one story lol. Yes one story Take you by Brianna hale. This rating is just for that book.

Why are all the Rhys in stories so fucking delicious!!!

Alaina has a problem shes been getting letters from a stalker and her boyfriend is ignoring it saying she's using it to get attention. He's over it and doesn't care. So she does what anyone does goes to the police but they can't do anything just make reports.. until she remembers a old friend that always looked out for her and ask him. and boy when you meet Rhys at first you think he alittle mean little jerky.. but shitttt!! He fooled her lol (not me) he made sure she felt safe and took her away to his cabin and showed her his true colors.. Alaina did try to fight him off and her feelings of Rhys but shes alittle messed up to finds out her bf is a cheating dick.. still confused about her feelings when she escapes.  Ugh this man was just yummy.

Low angst, Om drama, no cheating (between h and H) tiny drama, sexy times, no virgins

This collection was full of all kinds of darkness. From heroes to anti-heroes, from 'romantic' stalkers to full-fledged run-for-your-freaking-life stalkers, it literally had it all. Some were winners, some not so much. I have to say that quite a few new-to-me authors surprised the heck out of me and I will DEFINITELY be giving them a second look in the future. All in all, if you like your romance on the dark side, then come take a walk with this anthology!

Mind you, I haven't read all of the stories yet so my star rating might change.
