5 ⭐️. You know when you’re watching a crime drama series and you just need to binge it because it’s SO GOOD? That’s how I felt about this book.
It’s the first thriller I’ve ever rated 5 stars. The plot, the characters and the writing was incredible. I could not put this down (hence why I’m writing a review at 3am

Anyone who knows me knows I obsess over thriller movies and books. I am the pickiest person when it comes to this genre and I either love it or hate it. Pretty Girls was on a whole new level I didn’t see coming and I was invested the entire time while reading. I’m not a huge fan of big chapters but in a book like this, I was flipping through fast and couldn’t pull myself to put the book down.
All I can say without spoiling it too much, is that it isn’t for the weak. I would recommend checking the trigger warnings before diving into the book since there are some very disturbing things.
I will be picking up another Karin Slaughter book because her writing style is something else!

the pacing of this was great until the last 10% or so when it really dragged and then suddenly felt like everything was rushed to be resolved. this book contains so much violence against women that I question if the author is secretly a man using a female pen name. tw for like literally everything

Disturbing. Very disturbing. So good!
Start of the book eases you into what was coming, thank goodness. I don't think I was prepared for this.
The story has several twist and turns several of them I didnt see coming at all. The journal parts are heartbreaking. I was very surprised by the confusion and felt like it ended on the right note. There was disgust, blood lust, glee what a combo. The characters are fully developed which I really enjoyed.
The ending is sad but not in the traditional way tears welled in my eyes. I felt empathy for these characters. And would like to know what happened to them in 10-15yrs-that is a sign of a good character book. Must read for people who like thrillers.

I needed a compulsively-readable thriller, and that's exactly what this is - nothing more, nothng less. I enjoyed it pretty well, and zoomed through it!!
