Holy Cake!!! Simply incredible conclusion! I loved how it all came together. I couldn’t have even imagined.

What an epic trilogy! I read the second book a long time ago (more than a year) but it was still fresh in my mind, especially this horrible end :')

However, it was quite difficult to enter the universe again. I was a bit lost at first, especially with the situation our protagonists are. I was really happy to meet with all these incredible characters (especially Kal, he's my favorite one really).

I don't want to say a lot about the book. Just that I was a bit disappointed by the end. It was too easy, especially after all our characters had to go through. Still, I was really happy with some choices the authors did. I'm still really happy with this series, and had a great time reading it!

That was what the kids call a rollercoaster.
First half of the book, I had absolutely no clue what was going on other than everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, going to Hell in the proverbial hand basket.
The different plot lines were tripping me uP. I think the Scar/Fin/Zila storyline made the most sense out of all of them. Well, actually Tyler’s mighta been better since he didn’t travel in time. So apparently it was just Auri/Kal that threw me for a loop.
Lotsa thoughts in my brain, so I’m reverting back to my character-by-character run through.

AURI
Absolutely 100% OP, I admit it.
Now. Do I look like I care?
No, because I don’t.
Auri is basically a god by the end, and I’m over here pumping my fist and screaming YES QUEEN because #1 strong female character, #2 vulnerable AND strong female character, and #3 bro, she’s got a killer name.
I literally can’t remember why she was chosen to be the Trigger. (I think I honestly skimmed 37-45% of this entire series, I was flipping out so much.)
Anywhoo, she saved the universe with the power of love. As she should, people, as she should.

KAL
Oh, Kal babes.
This dUde.
He loves Auri, it’s sweet and also overstated but whatevs. I’m here for the ride.
Poor kiddo has some of the worst family members ever. All of them being his dad, since Saedii turns out to be epic (more about her later).
I’m sorta surprised at how much I love him, since I’m usually bored to death by the Brooding Love Interest…
Actually I just realized that he reminds me of Matthias from Six of Crows and there’s your reason.
Yup, he’s the Matthias.

I honestly think the Aurikal (i dunno what their ship name is) relationship would have been borderline cheesy if I hadn’t been so catatonic. You know when books do that to you? When you’re just freaking out so much that you’re not even considering the fact that the stuff you’re reading is made up by someone and could, conceivably, have been done in a different way? Well, I felt like that. And I don’t care if it was cheesy, anyway, because Auri and Kal are kinda adorable. Thusly, the only complaints about this storyline were that Kal’s dad sUcks and WHY DID IT TAKE THEM SO LONG TO GET BACK I WAS LOSING MY MIND.

TYLER JERICHO JONES
(He gets his full name because… he’s him. Duh.)
Tyler, loml, is so mind numbingly awesome it brings me pain. I don’t even know what to say, he just keeps GOING. Even when he thinks everyone he loves is gone and all of his actions are probably pointless.
He just fights it out to the very very V E R Y end until Aurifinallyshowsupatthelastpossiblesecond to give the poor guy a break.
Needless to say, Tyler Jones supremacy.

SAEDII
is NOT the worst!
She’s got the beginnings of a serious character arc coming, and I’m kinda sad we never got to see her and Tyler interact later in life when they have a well-established friendship. There was a bit there at the end when she showed up with a big flourish to stand with the Aurora Legion, and it led to some fabulous banter, just as I suspected it would.

I loved what we got of their relationship anyway. She’s the last person I’d imagine Tyler to fall for but, hey, it works. They’re both idiotically loyal to their people, and that’s probably where it all comes from. The whole part in the future with Tyler’s death and Lae made me want to shed a tear lemme tell you.

ZILA
Holyyyyyy Hannah when did Zila just go and decide to become a badass? Hm?? I think it was somewhere in the last book. But goodness gracious I love her so much. The relationship with Nari? Adorable. The fact that Zila finally gets to do something to save her family… sobbing. That she literally plans e v e r y t h i n g and sets the whole plan in motion? In

I spent this whole book honestly wondering how things would resolve, metaphorically on the edge of my seat (since I was listening to it while walking my dog). And I will be the first to admit that there were a few things about the ending that I truly did not understand. But I loved it a lot anyway. Also, I truly appreciate that the book gives such a good summary at the beginning of what happened in the previous books, it was very helpful.

4.5 stars! (.5 star for the ingenious ending and for not making it sad and depressing)

Fav POVs were Fin, Zila and Scar. Everybody else bored me so much. But the ending made up for it

I didn't dislike this, but I also didn't enjoy it anywhere near as much as the first two books (especially book one). Fin was one of my favorite characters and I admit to wishing he got more screen time here (in the book with him on the cover).

Similarly, what I so enjoyed about book one was the interplay between all of the characters. Here, they're split into three grouping and don't come together until the very end. I appreciated how each of their storylines wrapped around and became pertinent to the ending. But I missed seeing them all together, missed their humor and sarcasm.

Lastly, I was simply bored for the first half of this book. The second half had a bit more going for it (and even made me cry a little). But being bored for the first 5 or 6 hours of an audio book is hard to overcome. Plus, I thought the solution to the Ram problem was incredibly pat. I was not thrilled with the ending.

Having said all that, I did still like the overall sarcastic tone of the book, appreciated the amount of growth in the characters, and the narrative cast did a good job.
