Stuck a little between 2 and 3 stars, as I was emotionally invested in the conclusion of the stories for the characters I felt the conclusion of the plot of the story was a bit weak. And honestly this book was slightly too long.
2.5/5 is probably my rating, 3 feels too high for what felt like only an ok ending.

this one was significantly better than the last one and super entertaining! i will say that i know adding time travel into a book is difficult given the nature of paradoxes and whatever, but i think the inconsistencies were still a little too extreme here.
i could look past the time loop, as at least that was really fun to read, but it seemed like they mostly operated under the belief that what had happened in the past had always happened for them. that would be totally fine if auri and kal hadnt ended up in the future and come back to the present to change it. so, is it what happens has always happened or what will happen can change based on your current actions?
They seemed to try to answer this question in the time loop by claiming it WAS possible for them to die there, even though they didn't, and spewing off some witty joke about "multiverse theory" so they didn't have to actually explain it. anyways, if kal and auri hadn't gone to the future (which was a plotline i was not invested in at ALL, especially given they were just going to undo everything eventually) then i would've had very little complaints about the time loop, despite the vagueness, but those two plot points completely conflicted with each other.
auri and kal were still a little annoying (sorry) but scarlet and finian finally became real characters with some depth. also i love zila!!! wlw queen 🫶 anyways this one was pretty entertaining but unfortunately utilizes the"fmc loses her powers in the end for... some reason?" trope which i actually haven't seen much of recently, so i'm kinda annoyed this book broke my streak. that felt super unnecessary considering the plot was already mostly resolved by then tbh.

Well, I definitely did not expect to love this book that much!
The first few pages definitely weren’t my cup of tea. Too much YA romance for my taste, and a plot that took a few chapters to really take off. It was off to a bad start. But damn was it worth it! From the moment things finally pick up (around 1/4 in) it was a nonstop wild ride and I was all the way here for it!
The found family trope is my all-time favorite trope and it’s the main reason why this series appealed to me in the first place. Unfortunately, the first two books didn’t fully hit the mark for me. So, I was a bit reluctant to continue this story. And how glad I am that I still did, this third book was exactly what I wanted from a found family book!
I rarely cry when I read but I couldn't hold back a few tears reading this one. It was a perfect ending to this beautiful story and for sure my favorite of the trilogy.
