Balanced on a razor's edge, walking along it until you reach the end.

A perfect sequence to the first book and was filled with suspense and mystery. A great addition and a must read to people that loved the first one. I absolutely loved the introduction to new types of characters and all the different conspiracies.

Pretty good, but not as good as Dune. Also very short comparatively. We’ll see what the next book holds.

2024: I first read this in 2012, and I'm guessing I didn't appreciate this as much at the time (I gave it two stars). While, in my opinion, this is definitely not as good as the first novel, there's a wonderful continuity into the world created in Dune. On to the next!

Set up perfectly by the first book. Once you get the flow of the first book down this one flies and it’s all payoff from the first book.
